Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions:

What's with the K? Shouldn't the name be spelled Co-Op?

A cooperative (also known as a co-operative or simply a co-op) is defined by the International Co-operative Alliance's Statement on the Co-operative Identity as an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise.

While the Miami Kosher Ko-Op is dedicated to meeting the economic needs of the community in an effort to alleviate some pressures of these difficult economic times, it is not jointly owned or democratically controlled.

Perhaps, even more simply, one could say the Ko- refers to our organization only stocking kosher foods.

How do I place an order?

Orders are placed through the form on our website. All orders must be submitted by Monday night 11:59:59 pm to guarantee your items will be available for pick up on Wednesday night. Any orders placed on Tuesday will be filled based on current in stock availability. As such, not all items may be available. (Occasionally the schedule may change due to holidays, community events, etc., in which case we'll let customers know in advance.)

When can I pick up my order?

Customers are to schedule a time on Wednesday evening when they can pick up their orders.

How do I pay?

Checks or credit card. Checks should be written to: Miami Kosher Ko-Op.

I get an error message when I try to pay with a credit card on PayPal. Please help.

If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 8 you will get an error message unless you specifically allow cookies from PayPal. This may be fixed one of two ways.

2) Go to: Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, select "Override automatic cookie handling" and select "Always allow session cookies." Select OK, and exit. You may have to restart your browser.

What do I do if I make a mistake in my order?

Email MiamiKosherKoOp@gmail.com and tell us what needs correcting.

I don't see a product listed that I'm interested in purchasing. Can you add something?

The Ko-Op is not able to carry every single product you can readily purchase at a grocery store. However, we should be able to obtain most fruits and vegetables. If you don't see something you would like, let us know and if demand is high, we will try our best to add it to the list. Please remember that our ability to obtain certain fruits and vegetables will change seasonally.

I have friends who are interested in joining. How can they join?

Send us an email and we'll let you know. As stated above, this Ko-Op was established specifically to help low income families. Membership is by invitation only and is not open to the general public. All families have to be pre-approved by the board based on income and family size.

Is there a fee to join?

There is NO fees to join.

I have more questions.
